Teaching at Casa Chango Mexico

Sweet Retreats is dedicated to offering world class instruction, and we invite teachers of any discipline from anywhere in the world to come be a host or guest teacher at Casa Chango Mexico. If you are interested in hosting a retreat or being a guest teacher at Casa Chango, please email us at SweetRetreatsMexico@gmail.com. We are excited to talk to you about all the possibilities.

Casa Chango Retreat Center

Casa Chango is an eco-chic, off grid Art Farm Retreat Center located just outside of Puerto Escondido on the Oaxaca coast in southern Mexico. The property is nestled in the forest just one mile inland from the beach and borders a beautiful river where guests can soak and splash in the warm, clear water. All classes, meals and accommodations are inside Casa Chango Retreat Center.  We provide transportation for trips to local markets, beaches, and nature excursions during our retreats.

The property has gardens, tropical fruit trees, nature trails, and our animal family (friendly cats, dogs and chickens). Community spaces include a swimming pool, jacuzzi, and dining area as well as our 2000 square foot open air movement space/circus gym and 850 square foot air conditioned dance/yoga studio.

Our mission is to create a diverse inclusive culture that encourages community, personal growth, self-awareness, learning, healthy lifestyle, learning, and creative expression. We invite our guests and teaching staff to climb into their own skin and become themselves more and more in each moment of their visit. Our eco/off-grid sustainable living infrastructure serves as a practical and inspiring way to educate and promote positive changes we can make for the benefit of ourselves and our planet.

More about Host Teachers & Guest Teachers

We are committed to world class instruction, so we prioritize working with teachers with mastery and experience. There are a few different ways you can experience teaching at Casa Chango Mexico

Host Teacher Retreats

Host Teacher Retreats are for teachers who have many years of experience teaching, dedication to the discipline they teach, and a strong student following. Host Teachers must apply or be invited by Sweet Retreats, so if you are interested, please contact us.

Those specific responsibilities of a Host Teacher Retreat include:

  • You are 100% responsible for promoting your retreat and getting a minimum of 10 paid sign ups
  • You have to pay a $1000 deposit which you will lose if the retreat does not end up filling or happening.
  • You have to buy your own plane ticket.
  • You must prepare and curate your class curriculum with the needs of your students in mind.
  • You are representing yourself and Sweet Retreats, so we expect you to be a generous host. In addition to teaching your retreat classes, you have to be a host, be available for your students outside of classes for activities, etc.
  • Host Teacher Retreats are best for teachers who have an active and large online presence/following, feel confident in their ability to fill the retreat with their own promotion, and have confidence in their abilities as a coach.
  • Host Teachers must commit to the task of promoting and teaching the retreat.
  • The perk of a Host Teacher Retreat is that your retreat is listed on our main webpage and our Instagram captions. Students can find your retreat through our promotion.

Guest Teachers

Teaching at Sweet Retreats as a Guest Teacher for our Retreats and Residency Programs is a great way to experience the programs at Casa Chango. This works well if you are a teacher and want to get away and have a work-vacation, if you are interested in starting to lead retreats, and need some guidance and inspiration, or if you don’t have much of a social media or internet following and don’t know if you can draw many students on your own.

There is no financial risk and more free time.  The pay is less, but so is the work.  Some details of the Guest Teacher Retreat or Residency Program include:

  • Travel stipend to buy your plane ticket.
  • You do not have to pay a deposit.  If the retreat gets cancelled, you don’t lose anything.
  • Outside of teaching classes at the retreat, you can feel like you are on vacation.
  • Your pay depends on the amount you are teaching and the number of paid sign ups for the retreat.

Group Leader Retreats

Group Leader Retreats are open to anyone who wants to bring a group of students, friends, family, or co-workers to curate their own experience. We welcome any kind of experience including aerial, yoga, AcroYoga, Pilates, dance, ecstatic dance, weddings, ceremonies, healing retreats, corporate team building, family reunions, etc.
